The Garden School began in 1995 and was revived in 2025, after a Covid hiatus, into a world with very different gardening concerns. Now, how to garden in a changed climate of saturated winters and summer droughts is uppermost in our minds.

The school already has an excellent reputation for providing a thorough education in hands-on gardening, from propagation to border design, but we will increasingly offer a variety of events including creative workshops, and talks with a more philosophical component: to contemplate what it is that makes a garden, and why they’re so important, with a particular focus on how we can work to nourish, not deplete, the soil upon which we all depend.
