Spend the day here at Coton Manor with brilliantly creative gardener, florist, writer and illustrator, Arthur Parkinson, who will be talking about his two of his great passions – flowers and flamingos – in the morning, followed by lunch and a flower arranging demonstration in the afternoon. Proceeds from this talk will be going towards the acquisition of further flamingos at Coton Manor.
Arthur Parkinson is a garden writer, illustrator and photographer who’s interest in cut flowers led him to work as florist to Sarah Raven embracing the movement of home grown cut flowers picked and arranged romantically into vases. They co founded the successful podcast together, Grow, Cook, Eat, Arrange. Before this, he studied for a year at Kew Gardens but admits that he would have been better suited to probably working at London Zoo in hindsight! It is his love of exotic birds that led him to visit the flamingos at Coton a few years ago. Arthur has written 5 books. His first being about the flower garden he created at the Emma Bridgewater Pottery in Stoke on Trent along with the Flower Yard, Planting a Paradise and Chicken boy with the Hen Party being published this coming October. His illustrations of chickens have seen them appear on pottery for Fortnum and Mason and he continues to share his gardening thoughts and photographs on his engaging Instagram account.
